Hoarding

In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

bis'mi l-lahi l-raḥmāni l-raḥīm

You remain preoccupied with hoarding.

أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ

alhākumu l-takāthur

Until you go to the graves.

حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ

ḥattā zur'tumu l-maqābir

Indeed, you will find out.

كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

kallā sawfa taʿlamūn

Most assuredly, you will find out.

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

thumma kallā sawfa taʿlamūn

If only you could find out for certain.

كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ

kallā law taʿlamūna ʿil'ma l-yaqīn

You would envision Hell.

لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ

latarawunna l-jaḥīm

Then you would see it with the eye of certainty.

ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ

thumma latarawunnahā ʿayna l-yaqīn

Then you will be questioned, on that day, about the blessings you had enjoyed.

ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

thumma latus'alunna yawma-idhin ʿani l-naʿīm
