The Shattering

In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

bis'mi l-lahi l-raḥmāni l-raḥīm

When the heaven is shattered.

إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ

idhā l-samāu infaṭara

The planets are scattered.

وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ

wa-idhā l-kawākibu intathara

The oceans are exploded.

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ

wa-idhā l-biḥāru fujjira

The graves are opened.

وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ

wa-idhā l-qubūru buʿ'thira

Every soul will find out what caused it to advance, and what caused it to regress.

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ

alimat nafsun ma qaddamatwaakhkharat

O you human being, what diverted you from your Lord, Most Honorable?

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ

yāayyuhā l-insānu mā gharraka birabbika l-karīm

The One who created you, designed you, and perfected you.

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ

alladhī khalaqaka fasawwāka faʿadalak

In whatever design He chose, He constructed it.

فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ

fī ayyi ṣūratin mā shāa rakkabak

Indeed, you disbelieve in the religion.

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ

kallā bal tukadhibūna bil-dīn

Oblivious to the fact that there are (invisible) keepers around you.

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَٰفِظِينَ

wa-inna ʿalaykum laḥāfiẓīn

They are honest recorders.

كِرَامًا كَٰتِبِينَ

kirāman kātibīn

They record everything you do.

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ

yaʿlamūna mā tafʿalūn

Surely, the pious have deserved bliss.

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ

inna l-abrāra lafī naʿīmi

While the wicked have deserved Hell.

وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ

wa-inna l-fujāra lafī jaḥīmi

Will incur it on the Day of Judgment.

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ

yaṣlawnahā yawma l-dīn

They never leave it.

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ

wamā hum ʿanhā bighāibīn

Awesome is the Day of Judgment.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ

wamā adrāka mā yawmu l-dīn

What a day; the Day of Judgment!

ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ

thumma mā adrāka mā yawmu l-dīn

That is the day when no soul can help another soul, and all decisions, on that day, will belong to GOD.

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ

yawma lā tamliku nafsun linafsin shayan wal-amru yawma-idhin lillah
