The Most High

In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

bis'mi l-lahi l-raḥmāni l-raḥīm

Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High.

سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى

sabbiḥi is'ma rabbika l-aʿl

He creates and shapes.

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ

alladhī khalaqa fasaww

He designs and guides.

وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ

wa-alladhī qaddara fahad

He produces the pasture.

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ

wa-alladhī akhraja l-marʿ

Then turns it into light hay.

فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ

fajaʿalahu ghuthāan aḥw

We will recite to you; do not forget.

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ

sanuq'ri-uka falā tans

Everything is in accordance with GOD's will; He knows what is declared, and what is hidden.

إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ

illā mā shāa l-lahu innahu yaʿlamu l-jahra wamā yakhf

We will direct you to the easiest path.

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

wanuyassiruka lil'yus'r

Therefore, you shall remind; perhaps the reminder will benefit.

فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ

fadhakkir in nafaʿati l-dhik'r

The reverent will take heed.

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ

sayadhakkaru man yakhsh

The wicked will avoid it.

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى

wayatajannabuhā l-ashq

Consequently, he will suffer the great Hellfire.

ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ

alladhī yaṣlā l-nāra l-kub'r

Wherein he never dies, nor stays alive.

ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ

thumma lā yamūtu fīhā walā yaḥy

Successful indeed is the one who redeems his soul.

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ

qad aflaḥa man tazakk

By remembering the name of his Lord, and observing the contact prayers (Salat).

وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ

wadhakara is'ma rabbihi faṣall

Indeed, you are preoccupied with this first life.

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا

bal tu'thirūna l-ḥayata l-dun'y

Even though the Hereafter is far better and everlasting.

وَٱلْءَاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ

wal-ākhiratu khayrun wa-abq

This is recorded in the earlier teachings.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ

inna hādhā lafī l-ṣuḥufi l-ūl

The teachings of Abraham and Moses.

صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ

ṣuḥufi ib'rāhīma wamūs
