Cooling the Temper

In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

bis'mi l-lahi l-raḥmāni l-raḥīm

Did we not cool your temper?

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ

alam nashraḥ laka ṣadrak

And we unloaded your load (of sins).

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ

wawaḍaʿnā ʿanka wiz'rak

One that burdened your back.

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ

alladhī anqaḍa ẓahrak

We exalted you to an honorable position.

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ

warafaʿnā laka dhik'rak

With pain there is gain.

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

fa-inna maʿa l-ʿus'ri yus'ra

Indeed, with pain there is gain.

إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

inna maʿa l-ʿus'ri yus'ra

Whenever possible you shall strive.

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ

fa-idhā faraghta fa-inṣab

Seeking only your Lord.

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب

wa-ilā rabbika fa-ir'ghab
